“MESHUGGAH” – THE VIOLENT SLEEP OF REASON CD-REVIEW

meshuggah-_1

When I heard Meshuggah announced a new album, I was super excited.I was not let down by “The Violent Sleep Of Reason”. The album opens with “Clockworks“, a brutal yet simple track that captures the true essence of the band. A fairly long song at over seven minutes, the music and vocals are outstanding. Another standout song is “Born In Dissonance”. This is a song that requires a few listens to appreciate the depth of the meter and arrangement changes.

Thankfully, it doesn’t sound over produced. Meshuggah has always been known for its musicianship. This album opens a new window to seeing the band’s future potential. I highly recommend this album not only for current fans, but also anyone who hasn’t heard them before.

Rating 10/10
