Scarlet Desire – Cry For Your Name

Rock and metal projects are springing up like mushrooms. Modern recording techniques make it possible. And thanks to the Internet, even greater distances between musicians do not hinder cooperation. The most recent example is Scarlet Desire. Guitarist Esa Mikkola lives in Finland, vocalist Danae Komodromou in Greece. The guest musicians also come from the Scandinavian country, while Oliver Palotai (Kamelot) contributed the orchestration. The single was mixed and mastered in Denmark by none other than Jacob Hansen. And the cover was designed by the designer Gustavo Sazes, who lives in Portugal. Is it even more international? Hardly likely.
The big names also make a great sound. Orchestral epic, metallic heavyness and a very good vocal performance characterize this song. The interplay of beauty and the beast is celebrated here in an authentic way. Danae Komodromou’s clean opera soprano is particularly impressive. Since she has something ahead of many of her colleagues. Certainly metal purists will turn their noses up here. But if you like symphonic metal you will get your money’s worth here.
It remains to be seen how the Scarlet Desire project will continue. If it is possible that the two can build a solid band lineup. Or are they still dependent on outside help? The start at least sounds promising.
