FISTULA: Ohio Sludgecore Unit To Release Split Seven-Inch With Death/Grind Veterans HEMDALE; Hannah Montana-Inspired “Miley” Streaming At Decibel Magazine + Preorders Available

“She was a Phoenix rising from the ash of the Hannah Montana show with talent and grace that can’t be stopped. That is when we knew we needed a song as a tribute to such talent. Thus ‘Miley’ the song was written. It was a fast process, as if God was flowing through our instruments.” —
HEMDALE on “Miley”

Long-running Ohio sludgecore practitioners FISTULA will release a split seven-inch next month with Ohio death/grind institution HEMDALE. The EP serves as the latest installment in an ongoing split seven-inch series celebrating FISTULA‘s twenty years of audio desolation.
In advance of its release, Decibel Magazine is streaming HEMDALE‘s Hannah Montana-inspired ode “Miley.” Notes HEMDALE guitarist/vocalist Matt Rositano. “The song ‘Miley’ was a lengthy process. We were big fans for years of her talent and music. The witty humor of the show Hannah Montanawas inspired. Excellent acting and vocal work just made for a wonderful viewing experience. The show ended, and we wonder, what now? With Hannah gone, what will this become? Will Miley [Cyrus] triumph over Hannah and stand on her own two feet? The worrying then was just a waste of time. She was a Phoenix rising from the ash of the Hannah Montana show with talent and grace that can’t be stopped. That is when we knew we needed a song as a tribute to such talent. Thus ‘Miley’ the song was written. It was a fast process, as if God was flowing through our instruments. The song really wrote itself. We were just lucky enough to receive it. How could you not be overwhelmed by her talent and create a lasting tribute. FISTULA is a great band and we are really happy to be on a split with them.”

FISTULA/HEMDALE Track Listing:
A. FISTULA – Whore Cancer
B. HEMDALE – Miley
FISTULA was forged in 1998 by musical partners-in-crime Corey Bing and Bahb Branca. Over the years, FISTULA has released a seemingly endless barrage of studio albums and split EPs through numerous lineup changes featuring the creative talents of bands such as Sloth, Hemdale, The Disease Concept, Accept Death, and so many others. FISTULA is a band that is impossible to categorize, combining elements of remedial sludge, hardcore and a proverbial “bad case of the Mondays.” Nearing two decades of ear-bleeding, FISTULA remains the miserable kings of sludgecore.
