Revolution Saints ‘Rise’

When established musicians come together to form a new group, there is often the deep anxiety that the band will only make it to one album, let alone two. Therefore, when Revolution Saints announced that their third album ‘Rise’ would be released this year; Jack Blades, Deen Castronovo and Doug Aldrich were back, but can the band keep that momentum going?
There is a certain expectation from these musicians to create an album of excellent hard rock and as the pedigree of these members do not need explaining, ‘Rise’ unfolds exactly as the listener would expect. Thus, ‘Rise’ is almost the perfect blend of hard rock which takes in huge influences from melodic hard rock and AOR as the skills of Blades and Castronovo and Aldrich shine through, beautiful harmonised vocals and soaring riffs that can be seen in excellent tracks ‘Talk to Me’, ‘Price We Pay’ and the superb ‘Higher’, a track that may not be lyrically a million miles away from ‘Keep the Faith’ by Bon Jovi, but it does have the ability to stand tall as one of the best songs that Revolution Saints have ever recorded with all the hallmarks of Night Ranger, House of Lords and FM.
Considering that all three members of this band are significantly tied to their ‘home’ bands which take up the majority of their time, there was a risk that ‘Rise’ may have been spread too thin, but once this album is in full flow, all thoughts of that are quickly dispensed. Sure, this album could be a little shorter, maybe losing one or two songs, but ultimately, Revolution Saints have delivered another album which is top drawer in its field.
